ANNUAL LEARNLAUNCH EDTECH CONFERENCE 2016 ANNOUNCES NEW KEYNOTE SPEAKER, SESSIONS AND CLASSROOM OF THE FUTURE SHOWCASE

 Kicks Off January 21 At Harvard Business School

BOSTON, MA – January 6, 2016 – LearnLaunch Institute today announced the addition of new speakers, sessions and its showcase for the Classroom of the Future at its 4th annual LearnLaunch Across Boundaries Conference, the premier education technology conference in the Northeast. The conference, promoting dialogue and bringing together the leading educators, entrepreneurs, learners, investors, and industry affiliates focused on education technology and innovations, will be held January 21-22 2016 at Harvard Business School in Cambridge, Mass.

The Classroom of the Future session, to be held 10:30 am- 1:15 pm on January 22, will feature 15-20 exemplary classrooms, 6th through 12th grade and post-secondary. The session will highlight innovative programming and technologies that are changing the lives of students and preparing them for success. Classroom of the Future uniquely presents the voice of students and enables diverse groups (entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers) to see applications of edtech in real classrooms. Exhibits include: using technology to bring creativity and collaboration to teaching and learning; building maker spaces and innovation studios; redesigning physical school and classroom spaces; launching coding and engineering programs; and implementing virtual field trips.

LearnLaunch also is announcing an additional keynote speaker – Victor Hu, Global Head of Education Technology and Services Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs. He will be speaking about Business Trends in Edtech.

Previously announced keynote and related sessions include:

  • Navigating Fast Growth & Big Changes in Edtech with Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates and Larry Berger, CEO of Amplify
  • K-12 Education: 2016 and Beyond with Stacey Childress, CEO of New Schools Venture Fund
  • Individuality Matters: How We Succeed in a World that Values Sameness with Todd Rose, Director of the Mind, Brain and Education Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education & Founder of the Center for Individual Opportunity
  • Higher Education 2.0: Readying for a Changing Landscape with Paul LeBlanc, President of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).

In addition to the keynotes, the conference will include over 100 speakers from across the edtech spectrum who will be presenting in over 40 sessions over the course of the two-day event. MassCUE Program on Blended and Digital Learning

Announcing a New Program for Massachusetts School Leaders!

The MassCUE Leadership in Blended and Digital Learning program – offers a job-embedded professional learning experience to prepare principals and their school-based leadership team to lead a blended and digital learning transition in their school. The program, developed by the Friday Institute, is delivered as a 60 hour blended course made up of FIVE Modules or Sessions. Participants will be led by experienced practitioners from the Commonwealth who have been trained by the Friday Institute staff. Selected school teams who are accepted into the first cohort of this program, will be guided through a planning process to produce a Roadmap for Leading a Blended and Digital Learning Transition in their school.

Reviewers needed- Educator Prep Program

Next year, nearly 4,500 candidates will complete an educator preparation program and become employed in a Massachusetts public school.  Tens of thousands of students will depend daily on the knowledge and skills of the teachers and leaders prepared in these programs.

ESE is preparing to select the cohort of reviewers that help determine the quality of these preparation programs and we need your help. ESE relies heavily on the skilled and committed professionals who are selected as reviewers to review, analyze, and evaluate evidence of educator preparation program effectiveness in the Commonwealth.

ESE is looking for teachers, administrators, district staff, professional support personnel and other engaged education professionals with experience in PK-12 education or educator preparation.

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) will accept applications for the 2016-2017 cohort of Ed Prep reviewers through 2/24/16. Reviewers are responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating evidence of educator preparation program effectiveness. Together with ESE, reviewers help to guarantee that educator preparation in MA results in effective educators ready to support the success of all students.

Application deadline is Wednesday, February 24th, 2016
